![]() Regarding 8: Don't forget they are still early access :) Afaik nearly every update so far brought new components. And I agree with that choice, since Pulsar ships are still way easier to coordinate than the ships in Artemis. Artemis has a communications officer, but Pulsar gives the captain this job. I would not want to take that away from our beloved red shirts. As it is, the weapons officer is the person you go to when it comes to battle engagements on planets and other ships. I also disagree with 7: Efficiently coordinating that many people would be difficult and the "away team" would whine about not having much to do most of the time. Also, consider the immersion: There is a reason that on the Enterprise officers had no Big Brother like surveillance implant so that Kirk could see who was on the toilet at any given time. (See other games like Artemis spaceship bridge simulator). ![]() But that is part of the experience and the game concept. It is not easy, not convenient, and the captain has to rely on the crew to communicate and report back, true. Make this game about convenience and it is dead.Īnd with 5: The coordination is central part of the game. So I totally applaud the choice to encourage engineers to stay on their workplace with the manual switches and the manual refuel thing. Also to repair stuff in case it is needed. Was Scotty on the bridge of the Enterprise all the time? No! Of course not! His field of work is in the engineering room. )īut I completely disagree with 1: This is no casual game, so it can't be about convenience. Under the condition that they change the temperature unit in the game to Kelvin. Of course the content there can be recycled or used as inspiration for the developers, in case they want to add scientific data to the game. (see one of my posts regarding longer despawn time + my steam guide about the fauna of the galaxy. Encounter pirates, asteroid belts/meteor storms, solar flares, etc. ![]() Using their unknown tech to research new upgrades for ships. Encountering new species, using diplomacy or aggression to form relationships. Individual bulkhead lockdowns to vent atmosphere from an area to put out fires or repel boarders.ĩ. Tractor Beams, Fire Suppression Systems (varying types such as water or halon), improved scanners that show enemy ship diagrams, recon probes for scouting systems without putting your ship at risk. It'd still be possible to play without an away team.Ĩ. This would leave officers on the bridge if they had the manpower, but wouldn't change the current game if they didn't. They'd have the ability to wear armor and use rifles, shotguns, grenades, etc. Maybe something like an "Away Team" who's purpose is to board ships and go down to the planet. Once you get a good reactor, overheating isn't a huge worry and the engineer is basically waiting for the science officer to request a fuel recharge or boarding enemy ships.ħ. ![]() Give the engineer something to do, late game. No actual ability to use these screens but an ability to monitor.Ħ. From here, he can see all of the important screens such as power distribution/core temp, warp drive status, science programs/viruses, hull/shield status, maybe a live feed of what the turrets are seeing. Allow the Captain to at least see what other officers are doing with a monitor built into his chair. Let him have the ability to modulate the frequency of energy weapons to help bypass shields or to "overclock" our physical weapons to do more damage at the expense of higher heat.ĥ. Give the Weapons Officer more to do during combat. This information could be used to build up a database that would allow the crew to do more damage or take less damage from enemies.Ĥ. Let corpses stay on the ground and allow someone to loot them or have the science officer scan them for more infomation. Alternatively, it would also make it harder for AI to come in and reboot the system as the boarders could put the covers back on so the AI would have to lower them again.ģ. Make it so it takes like five seconds for the cover to be lifted/dropped down when interracted with before flipping the switch. Maybe a cover that has to be lifted to avoid having a boarding party transport over and instantly shut down the ship. The three switches in engineering should have safeties. I don't think it should only be a manual switch in the engineering bay as it's annoying to leave my station when it comes time to repair the hull.Ģ. Have it tied to the shields power where if you cut all power to shields, it lowers them. Allow engineers to drop shields from the bridge.
